For years I have passed Shanganagh Park in my car without realising the extent of the park or it's excellent facilities for sport or just walking.

Shanganagh Park

If a “not too energetic” walk is required or a safe place to “air” the kids, then there is no better place then Shanganagh Park on the old Dublin Road (R119) between Shankill and Bray. There is plenty of car-parking space available either in the lane beside the park or in the carpark at the end of the lane.
There is also sometimes entertainment provided by the sporting activities.

The park is a mixture of large playing fields and wooded areas with very well surfaced footpaths interlacing the whole park.

Even American Baseball is played on the green to entertain the stroller.

The only uphill climb is the ramp up to the pedestrian bridge across the railway or the steps down to beach (outside the park).

On leaving the park at the far end, the beach can be accessed by the remains of a tunnel under the former railway route.

A small nature trail and children's play area are all part of the facilities.

....Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
